We wanted to take the time to thank you for your support and trust of Twin Oaks Veterinary Hospital and to inform you of some changes that will be taking place on July 1st. As most of you who have been to the clinic recently know, we are experiencing a significant shortage of veterinarians. This is a nationwide problem but has affected rural clinics the most. We currently have some extra part time help but Dr.Williams is our only full-time veterinarian and is the only one covering after hour emergency calls. Dr. Darnell is also still here working four days a week but with our current caseload we have decided to make some changes to help us keep the veterinarians we have and hopefully attract some new prospects. The first major change is that we are no longer taking new clients. While we appreciate you all referring your friends and family to us, the only way for us to provide excellent care for your pets is to currently not accept any new clients. Once we are able to hire more veterinarians this will hopefully change but at this time we are unsure how long this will be in effect. The next change is that we will no longer check in patients after 3:30 pm during the week and 11:00 am on Saturdays. Most days we still have a long wait at these times and this will allow us to make sure we have time to see them, treat our hospitalized patients, and update owners before leaving at the end of the day. The office will still be open until 5:00 pm during the week and 12:00 pm on Saturdays to pick up patients or medication. If you do need to bring an animal in after these times there will be a $50 urgent fee added for them to be seen. We are also aware that it is difficult to get through on our phone. We ask that you please refrain from calling or texting the doctor’s personal phones while they are trying to work. We attempt to keep our email monitored hourly during business hours for urgent needs and are able to respond to most emails within 24 hours. If there is a question that requires a doctor’s response a staff member will direct it to them.
